I feel bad people who do not know Spaceman.

He is positive energy.

One of the premier names in Seattle’s bubbling hip-hop scene, and member of the Sportin Life Entertainment crew, he is a spectacular life performer. We were excited to hear he’s going to be performing at Massive tonight. I had a chance to catch up with him on the phone earlier this week.

Make sure you make it out to the Crown Room early or you will not get in! And check out his mixtape series. Get 0.1 on his Twitter page, 0.2 EXCLUSIVELY on his Facebook page and 0.3 at Spac3gonian.com on June 3rd.

Lets go!

How’s life been man?

Good man! I put out the first part of the mixtape last week, the third part comes out next week. We’re putting the second part on Friday.

Tell us a bit about the thought process behind the mixtapes.

I thought this was a good way to get out a lot of verses that I thought people might not have heard. This was a way for me to put it all out on display. I get a lot of love for the features I do, but I think a lot of people don’t know that the feature is me.

But at the same time I wanted to do something different. I didn’t want it to be like a regular mixtape where people can just skip through the songs. I thought doing it this way would let people listen to them all the way through. So we decided to just break it down to three parts and release each part as one track. We’re releasing them on consecutive Fridays, leading up to my birthday party and some other shows coming up in June. We’re also releasing a video with each release to help keep things hot.

What’s the next video you have coming out?

The next video is called “Still Flyer Than a Mother Fucker.” I just threw my little spice on there and added a little twist to it. I was at a point where I just wanted to rap on anything I liked at the time. And I was listening to a lot of Drake so I just decided to rap on it. That’s just the artist in me.

The video was shot at my partners Vanity Shop up in the U district in Seattle.

Who mixed them?

My live show DJ, DJ Swerve One, mixed them all.

Members Only.

And you are performing at Massive on Saturday as well right?

I’m actually pumped man. Me and Leigh have been speaking for a little while. When I first heard of massive I knew that I wanted to do it. So when we finally actually connected, we were talking about it and he was telling me how much he’s heard about it and wanted me on it. We just had to find the right time. Someone else was actually suppose to do it this month but they ended up not being able to do it for whatever reason. So he said, “Space…it’s you” and I said “Lets go.” You know what I mean?

I went to the last one where Cool Nutz rocked and was like, “Oh God.” It just carried that old school, original hip-hop vibe to me. They weren’t only playing Top 40 Club joints. They were playing old school joints, new school joints, pop stuff, but they still have performers that are being received with a lot of love. And in a club setting, people don’t usually receive local hip hop that way.

Massive is a beautiful thing and I’m happy to be a part of it.

And you also have your birthday party coming up June 11 right?

Yes sir.

What do you guys have going on there?

YO! So this is what ended up happening. I was going to throw my own party, because usually I just throw my own stuff. But I had been watching my partners throwing parties for awhile now. They went from just throwing parties in the hood, to now throwing parties where people from all over Washington are coming to go to their parties. They were throwing a party the day after my birthday, and I was going to throw a party on my birthday. So I just said, “Lets mix it up.”

They go by L.Y.F.E Entertainment and are bringing out Corey Gunz to the party, and their artists they promote and Hang Gang and Ike James.

So I’m gonna do my thing. It’s my birthday man. I’m just happy to be here another year fam. I’m just going to live it up as much as possible while we’re out here. It’s beautiful to celebrate.

I remember you came down to my birthday party and I ended up getting arrested before you even showed up.

Haha, pure comedy dog. I was performing at your party you weren’t at. I had all my things I had gathered to say, and my quick little speech in between my set and it didn’t even mean anything because you weren’t even there.

We’ll have to try to make it happen again next year and make sure I’m there.

Yes sir, yes sir.

Anything else you’d like to add?

The mixtape, Featuristic, all three installments are coming out on three different sites. The first part came out on Twitter, the second one is coming out only on Facebook and the last installment is dropping exclusively on my blog.

You know what it is man. I’m just hoping everyone will go and check it out. Don’t be afraid to follow or like the pages, or even shoot me a line. I love when people talk to me, and I’m not afraid to make it out.

I appreciate you taking the time.
It’s all good, WE OUT HERE MAIN!!

DEFINITELY!
