We got lost on our way to Suki’s–the inconveniently located bar in Southwest Portland Zebulon Dak selected to watch the Seahawks game—and didn’t arrive until half time. By the time we got there I was starving.

“How’s the food here?” I asked.

“It’s better than starving,” Zeb replied with possibly the most accurate four word description ever.

Zeb is the biggest bearded Seahawks fan in the world. If you have ever recorded at Momentum Studios you have definitely walked out of the booth at some point and seen him finishing up replying to a post on the Seahawks official online board.

“We have a 6-page thread going right now talking about why True Blood is gay,” he told me.

We are excited to have Zebulon as our Seahawks correspondent–although he only casually agreed to the role. I’m not sure how if he knew I was serious about asking him when he agreed, but as long as I do much of the leg work I’m sure that he’ll be okay with it.

“We’re going to be good this year. It might take us four or five games, but we’ll figure out.”

When Zebulon Dak talks about football—especially when he talks about the Seahawks–it is wise to listen. The Seahawks boards he stays in contact with religiously are not all about True Blood. He knows the team’s strengths and weaknesses, and develops theories about the player’s names.

For example:

“With a name like Golden Tate, there is no way you can be bad at what you do. It’s a great name.”

And

“I’m pretty sure it’s impossible to have a name like Terrelle Pryor and not go to prison, please don’t pick him up.”

Zebulon has promised greatness this year. The Northwest hopes he is correct.

They managed to pull through with a 7-point win in their opening preseason game against San Diego.

“They looked sloppy and unprepared, but they also looked big, fast and hungry. I expect to see them play better against the Vikings. A lot better,” he explained.

The Seahawks play the Vikings this Saturday at 7pm, and we will have a report for you from Zeb shortly after.
