All things important are discussed. Catch Captain Midnite performing at Swag Fest tomorrow at the Nectar!

me: You there?
 Captain: Yessir, let’s goooo
me: Dope! So first question, how did you like the season finale of Game of Thrones?
Captain: I thought it was great. I figured there would be a huge cliffhanger, and the white walkers was a huge one. I loved it for that, but my girlfriend hated they did that haha
me: Yeah, that was some crazy-ness. Have you read the books?
Captain: I have not read the books and do not plan to until the show is over. I have too much fun just enjoying the craziness and creativity of the show to want to know what happens. I do however, 100% commend George RR Martin for creating this incredible world and story.
me: Yeah, he is an OG for sure. Who is your favorite character?
Captain: I obviously love Jon and Tyrion because it’s impossible to not think those guys are the shit. But my secret favorite character is Jaime Lannister the King Slayer. He’s just such a dick and he’s hilarious to me even though he’s an awful person. I always end up really liking bad guys in shows. But don’t get me wrong, fuck Joffrey lol.
me: What the fuck is wrong with that kid!!
Captain: Well he’s inbred to start… haha
me: On a list of God awful characters, he is the worst.
That is true. Blame the parents.
Captain: Yes, most evil character I’ve ever witnessed which is also a testament to the kid’s acting abilities who plays him.
me: True, I wonder how many times people have tried to fuck him up after seeing him in public.
Captain: Haha I’m sure it’s been weird for him.
me: What story line do you think Macklemore and Ryan Lewis would fit in best? And who would be their allies and enemies.
Captain: Wow strange question. Well I’d have to say Macklemore would fit in with the Starks since they are all Irish/Scottish cast and because of his personality. I think Ryan is kind of like a Lannister and I mean that in a good way, because he’s incredibly smart.
me: Fuck normal questions.
What projects have you been working on lately?
Captain: I like it. I’ve been working on my new solo EP All This Will Fade which is like a Hip-Hop, RnB, Spacey Rock album. I’ve also been making beats for my full length album with Kyle Lucas that we’ll be working on in the end of the year.
me: Swag, how is progress coming on the solo project?
Captain: It’s about 85% done. Waiting on a couple things from other people then I’m gonna put my final touches on it and it’ll be done! It’s taken longer than we hoped but it’ll be worth it because of it.
me: Patience is tough. Do you have a projected date? Or is it more of it will be released when it’s finished type of thing?
Captain: Yea it’s more that kind of thing because my manager and I want to make sure we do everything right with this one. It’s the first time I’ve released something on my own but with the council of others and I’ve liked that.
me: How did you Kyle link up?
Captain: We linked up on Myspace back in 2009 and I did a beat for his second mixtape. I sent him a couple more beats and we just kind of realized we have similar tastes and he literally flew out to Seattle that summer on a whim and we made our first EP I Brought Dead Flowers to a FUNeral
me: For as much shit that Myspace gets, its insane how many music relationships started because of it.
Be honest… How often do you visit World Star Hip Hop?
Captain: Ya man I actually really miss Myspace, it worked so well for what I was doing. I know most people are glad it’s gone though. I don’t think I’ve ever visited World Star Hip Hop in my life lol. Is that bad?
me: Naw, that is good. haha.
Who are some of your favorite artists in Seattle right now?
Captain: I’d have to say Slow Dance and Grieves are my two favorite Seattle artists right now. Grieves has been my favorite for sometime now. I love Grayskul as well so I’m def excited tomorrow for them.
me: No doubt. I was stoked we were able to make that happen. Really looking forward to hearing Onry’s new Darktime Sunshine project.
Captain: I also can’t deny I like all of P Smoov’s beats that he does on his various projects.
Ya me as well, Onry and JFK are so iconic to me.
me: Yeah, glad they are working on something new as well. Probably the most underrated group in hip hop. imo
Grieves is that dude. His work ethic is insane. Super talented as well.
Any new Let Go projects in the talks?
Captain: No I don’t think so. I still talk to both of them and even have had beats on their new projects. I have beats on both of Type’s new projects too. We actually just did his double date thing last Friday.
me: I saw that. Type is hilarious. How’d you like Snow White?
Captain: Yes he is. I thought it was decent. Definitely entertaining enough don’t get me wrong. I just wasn’t very impressed by the depth of the story but then again I am spoiled by Game of Thrones this past couple months with that new season ha.
me: Yeah, its no Game of Thrones, but I liked it. Thought the girl from Twilight killed it.
Brothers from Another just sent me their, new EP. Have you listened to it yet?
Captain: She did better than in Twilight I agree. I have not, but I’ve liked what I’ve heard from them for sure.
I’ve been thinking about trying to get them on a song eventually actually, just need to find the right one.
me: Swag. They are killing it. As is Kung Foo Grip, That new track produced by Stewart Villian is filllllthy.
Looking forward to seeing you at Swag Fest. Any final thoughts?
Captain: Me too man, looking forward to having a good time tomorrow. Was just going through my DJ stuff and it’s vibin.
