Following a two week “soft launch,” We Out Here Magazine proudly announces the Northeast Portland Saturday Market will be celebrating with a Grand Opening on May 7th, 2016 from noon to 7pm, and will continue to have unique events every Saturday through the Summer. An urban alternative to the popular downtown Saturday Market, the NEP Saturday Market version offers a variety of goods and services from local companies, artists and entrepreneurs right in the heart of ever-changing NE Portland – on Martin Luther King Boulevard, between Alberta and Prescott Street.

The NEP Saturday Market focuses on collaboration and is anchored by a great cast of vendors including the SneakerCart – the world’s first mobile sneaker store – which will be raffling off a pair of Jordans at the Grand Opening. Compound Gallery, Matt’s BBQ (Willamette Week’s co-Food Cart of the Year), Poplandia Popcorn, Grafletics, Bro Pluto, Ignorant Reflections, Sky’s Heavenly Designs, Stackin’ Kickz, Hannah’s Authentic New Orleans Snowballs, Sirens Song Stitchery, and Kee’s Loaded Grill are just a few of the core cast of vendors committed to the new marketplace. Talented artists such as Ben Hucke and Kenzie Miller will also have art on display and for sale.

Based in the community, the NE Portland Saturday Market aims to provide positive and sustainable financial opportunities to artists and entrepreneurs while building a community in lower NE. It is also a great place to spend an afternoon with the whole family, with food, drinks, and freebies aplenty. Accessibility is key, so the new market offers vending space for the low cost of $20-$60 per vendor (depending on size); further, community projects such as the Blazers Boys & Girls Club are welcome to setup at no cost to distribute information.

In its aim to be unique, NEP Saturday Market partners with musical collective Twelve Angry Artistry to provide music of various genres for every event. Resident DJ SHK THT has already brought out Stewart Villain & Jerry Bandito, and for the Grand Opening super-producer Trox (50 Cent, HANiF, Ab-Soul, Cool Nutz, etc) will join him to curate the musical selections. Local powerhouses Chapters Alumni and TNO Entertainment have come on board as well, both helping with promotion and creating excellent networking opportunities for local artists.

With over 30 vendors in play, the Northeast Portland Saturday looks to offer a variety of goods from the community to the community. Clothing, art, jewelry, accessories, popcorn, BBQ, soul food, books, skate decks and henna services are just a few of the goods offered. Come out this sunny Saturday and see what it’s all about!

The We Out Here Magazine Northeast Portland Saturday Market takes place at 4709 NE Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, in the lot between H&B and The Observer, every Saturday through Spring and Summer.
