Two of Seattle’s most talented artists, Dave B. and Sango, gifted the world with a joint project entitled Tomorrow back in 2016, and it is undoubtedly a classic.
When I get homesick and I want the Seattle feel from any part of the world, I run this project back. I’ve played it in Rome, Nigeria, Miami, and many more destinations around the world. Tomorrow sounds how Seattle feels in the summertime. And the soothing soundscapes of its opening track, “Zonin,” has the ability to relax me while mentally transporting me to my old stomping grounds of South Seattle.

It’s crazy to know that this July, Tomorrow will turn 9 years old! This album is truly timeless. Both Dave B. and Sango have continuously curated their musical crafts since then. The two have blessed us with multiple collabs over the years including 4 tracks from Dave’s 2020 released album Delicate, (namely “Fool Me Twice,” “Dance on Me,” “Company,” and “Melodies From Heaven II.”)
More recently, Sango’s “North Vol. 2,” released last May, features Dave on its groovy gospel-inspired track “Meanwhile.” Back in October, I was in the right place at the right time and had the pleasure of attending Sango’s live show in Dallas and getting a pre-show interview! While I thoroughly enjoy listening to his music via streaming platforms, nothing beats attending his live shows and experiencing his expert ears mixing music to perfection. Feeling and hearing the crowd react to the bountiful blends and moving mixes is priceless.
Besides the fact that Tomorrow is sonically superb, the album also brings on a multi-layered wave of nostalgia. I attended elementary school with Sango and summer camp with Dave, before any of us hit double digits. Knowing these two from childhood and watching them grow creatively over the years has been such an honor and inspiration. And I trust and believe that we will get a Day After Tomorrow or follow up album from this dynamic duo at some point. The world needs it.
