I like Slaughterhouse’s music a lot. I also like the way they’ve encouraged artists to join together and put out music as a collective.
Not suggesting that this is a new idea, but joining forces has a lot of benefits for independent artists looking to stand out in the crowd. Musically artists are able bounce ideas off, challenge, and learn from each other in the studio. Within the realm of music business being able to combine resources can allow artists to put together a much more efficient marketing campaign. Things like studio time, music videos, posters, flyers, ad time, and public relations campaigns all cost money. After production costs, a lot of individual artists are lucky to have money left over to print stickers. Being able to split the bill four ways can be huge in making promoting a project possible.
Joining forces also helps bring fans together. For example, even though Know Choice, Ripynt and Notion have probably performed at dozens of shows together, now that they are a group their fans will be forced to pay closer attention too each artist as an individual. Hopefully they’ll like what they hear and Notion’s fan base will end up picking up Ripynt and Know Choice’s albums, and vice versa.
The group atmosphere also gives the individual artist a jumping off point. This has been big for members of groups like the Sandpeople and Living Legends. Although the group names are usually bigger than the individual names, each individual is stronger because of their association within the group.
Hopefully things will work out the same for all the members of That One Show, who are all extremely talented.

This is exciting because… I’ve grown as an artist. With a lot of credit to That One Show. Its hard to be in a group with 3 other super talented cats and NOT up your game.
