My Name is… Simon Tucker.

I am a… Soul/Blues/R&B artist, lead guitar/vocalist, songwriter, producer, and band leader.

I like it when… Music touches someone in that ethereal way that only music can; when a song reaches the soul and effects a person for the better.

One thing I wish the Northwest would share with the world is… The tolerance and community-mindedness that is commonplace here, particularly in the Portland area. I’ve noticed this tendency is missing in many other places I’ve been.

One thing I wish the world would share with the Northwest is… Perspective. We are really spoiled in the Northwest with a melting-pot of cultures, art, music, food, coffee, beer and wine, and we enjoy an educated and conscious ‘norm’ to such a degree that it’s easy to forget the rest of the world isn’t like this. There are, if you can believe it, still places in the world, and in our own country, that a tattooed and facially-pierced person with pink dreadlocks still can’t get a job, even as a barista: first-world problems, for sure!

Something I have coming up is… A release show/party for my new EP “The Daily Mix” at the Goodfoot with the Jay Cobb Anderson Band and Brad Parsons Project, Thursday December 29th.

This is exciting because… It’s my first published recording. I’ve been waiting a long time to have a recording I’m proud of, and this is finally it. I got to work in Kung Fu Bakery, one of Portland’s premier recording facilities, and had some great talent and experience with me in the sound room in Michael Nelson Rizzo (NBC, MTV, Universal) who co-produced this project with myself and Bob Stark (Esperanza Spalding, Chuck Israels, Everclear), who also engineered and mixed the release.
