Ea$t25 adds some piecemeal visual aid to his Learning & Earning cut “War & Women”. There is a refreshing lack of adherence to 2012 flow tropes while avoiding any type of reactionary “this is real hip hop” type rapping, as he actually weaves in some sneaky dexterity and hugs the beat’s corners in unexpected ways. Sonic quality is a legitimate concern, as the lo-fi approach does not always come across as calculated, but for now, it’s working. Hearing a rapper say what he actually thinks without whining about some bullshit is enough to make me type a paragraph in ’12.
