Seattle’s Scribes moved to LA recently after creating a nice buzz for himself in the Northwest. We had a chance to link up with him and chat about a few of the differences between the NW and LA.

#OutHere

So LA, you live there now. How is it?

LA’s been good man, a few adjustments. But for the most part its been dope.

Was pursuing a music career your main reason for moving to LA?

Haha thats a complicated question. It was definitely a big part of it. Saw opportunities out here that didn’t exist in Seattle. I moved for personal reasons as well. Needed a change.

What are your favorite parts of living in LA and what do you miss most about the NW?

LA gets tough sometimes. Theres days when I fuckin hate it here. Days when u feel small and the city seems huge. But theres also days where u get to do some crazy shit u’d never get to do back home that makes it all worth it. I’ve been forced to grow so much as a person living out here. I think in general the city of LA naturally reinforces urban music and hip hop a lot. It’s inspiring to be in the scene out here and be surrounded by artists I grew up listening to and be in the environment that inspired their music and is currently inspiring new artists like myself. LA’s especially poppin right now. A lot of artists are on and active out here. Seattle’s a much nicer city than LA. The air is clean, the streets aren’t as dirty, it’s beautiful… The weather in LA is obviously better but in general Seattle’s a much more livable city than LA. I miss the the standard of living in Seattle sometimes. I miss my friends too. But theres so much to be inspired by out here in LA.

The new video looked like it was a lot of fun to make. Where did you meet the young lady who gave you the lap dance in the bathroom?

I met her at some club on the strip in Vegas the night of the shoot

Who’s idea was it for you to get a lap dance in the bathroom as part of the video?

Ummh haha, i dont think it was really anybody’s idea. It just kinda happened. We really didn’t plan out any of that video. We just threw various parties and filmed it.

Other than Hop on the Ride, it’s been awhile since we’ve heard new music. What else have you been up to?

All I’ve really been doing since I moved out here is writing new content. Got an EP on the way… It’ll be coming very soon. It kinda took me a while to put out new music because after What Was Lost I really didn’t know where to go next. Honestly I dropped that project when I was 23 but wrote most of it when I was like 19 or 20. Even the new songs I wrote when I was older were written to match the character of the old songs. When my album got stolen in 08 it did a significant amount of damage to my artistic growth. I went into sort of a dark place and because I spent so much time trying to rerecord the album and was spending so many hrs working to finance the recording sessions I didn’t really grow much during those years. I needed to clear my head and start from a clean slate to begin working on music again.

What can we expect from you moving forward?

Good music and entertainment

Thanks man!
