His first project since converting to Orthodox Judaism and dropping the “D. Black” moniker, the self-titled Nissim may not be what you expected from Seattle’s veteran rap enigma. Nissim remains lyrically sharp and retains his messages of existing outside of the system, though his instrumentation and production – which I’d describe as persistently uplifting – may come as a large departure for his fan base. Kind of reminds me of B.O.B.
