Quality over quantity? Last time I heard from Seattle emcee Chev was when he dropped Charles back in 2011. Similarly, I hadn’t heard a peep from beaatsmith Angel “Zapata” Morales since he produced Serge Severe’s Silver Novelist in 2012.
Well unbeknownst to me, the pair have been working on a project for the better part of 5 years. Avalon is finally here, paying homage to both the legendary island and the West Seattle neighborhood. With features from La, Ra Scion, Qwel, Layla Cendena, Chima, and frequent help from the amazing Camilla Recchio, the 7-track EP flows beautifully; exemplifying the chill underground Seattle sound so many of us love.
