I often advise rap dudes that if they are not going to improve on the original, don’t remix songs that are already famous. Nobody ever listens to me though. In particular, it seems that every time a Drake single drops, rappers waste no time scavenging the internet and harassing their DJ/producer friends for the latest trendy instrumental. Honestly, I’m not much of a Drake fan, but out-rapping that guy on his own beats seems highly unlikely. But I guess it wouldn’t be hip-hop if we didn’t try.
A couple of Portlanders took runs at the track that didn’t bug me like this one did; in fact, these are pretty good, even if they may not surpass the original. Creativity is the name of the game, and these guys came through showing talent. But which one is better? Is there a NW rapper with a better flip of the track?
