Last year, Nacho Picasso took the number 1 spot in a close one over Sam Lachow. This year, the Moor Gang General rides in at #4.

The Tat in the Hat had a productive year dropping an album, High and Mighty, as well as Trances With Wolves: The Prixtape with the expected results. The panel pondered Nacho’s unexpected drop in a rather spirited discussion and the consensus seems to be that where Nacho was wowing us with growth 1 and 2 years ago, he’s pretty much stayed on the level since.

Everyone on the panel agreed that Nacho is extremely popular and talented, but wondered if the mysterious persona-effect was wearing off; maybe fans are ready to find out more about Nacho the person as opposed to Nacho the enigma. This pairs with Nacho being less visible in Seattle as he’s focused on shows outside the region. It was also discussed that the attention to fellow Moor Gifted Gab‘s progression leaves folks wondering how long he will be able to claim King of the Moors. I stated that I’d like to see Nacho release less projects and just drop a monster album, while Darryl and Swerve noted that the ladies love Nacho.

The notion of moving Tope up the list was quickly dismissed – Tope is a dope rapper, but Nacho is a boss – in favor of a discussion over whether the Moor King would move up to number 3… But you’ll have to tune in tomorrow to see who he faces in the next round. #OutHere
