There’s been a lot of talk about these top rapper lists recently, and one of the things I love about Freshest In The NW is that we walk you through the process of how the decisions are made. Por ejemplo:

This installment brings in Sam Lachow at #8 – he battled with Nacho Picasso for the #1 spot last year – and I this is where I think things get really interesting. Everyone on the panel is a Lachow fan, (who’s not?) but a quiet year from the nationally popular rapper seemed to leave us all underwhelmed, especially given the obvious rise of his partner-in-crime, Raz Simone. Appearances at Bumbershoot and Sasquatch plus an incredible Kickstarter campaign that raised $10K for his upcoming album push were simply not enough to sustain the rapper’s placement though, causing him to fall even lower as we unanimously voted for Luck One to move into the #8 spot.

Q Dot wanted Dave B to move above Sam as well but D was quick to remind him of the rules. That didn’t stop the tangent discussion though. Swervewon stated that he could see Luck jumping all the way to #1. Is this in the cards for the uber-relevant PDX rapper who now resides in Harlem? Tune in tomorrow to see who enters at #7 and find out if Luck continues his climb to become the Freshest In The NW.
