Over the weekend, I came across “The Otherside,” a documentary on Seattle hip-hop (Thanks DJ Klyph). For anyone wondering what it would look like to see Northwest hip-hop on the screen in full length form, this is everything you could hope for. It’s not just a who’s who of Seattle hip-hop personalities from pioneers like DJ Nasty Nes and Sir Mix-A-Lot to Macklemore & Ryan Lewis to Moor Gang. The film also emphasizes the do-it-yourself culture of the Seattle scene and points to the lack of a central style as a strength. If you love music or are just looking for a crash course in Seattle hip-hop (or both), this is a 52 minute experience you need in your life. Check it out on The Find.
