Portside delivers his first release “The Wake” off of his upcoming project set to release August 11th. With an eerie beat laid down by DRYPZ, Portside comes correct with an aggressive yet confident delivery. I was first introduced to the Southeast Portland rapper 2 years ago when we both were selected to compete in a contest hosted and judged by Illmaculate, Cool Nutz, and DJ FatBoy. The winner received an interview with Nutz for his Sunday night series The Breakout Show on JAM’N 107.5 and also a mixtape hosted by Portland’s own DJ FatBoy. This was a huge opportunity for a room full of up and coming hip-hop artists striving to get their name out there. Portside and his partner in crime/fellow rapper LOW ended up taking home the gold that night after an electric performance. It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything from the young emcee which is why I’m definitely looking forward to what his new project has to offer. If Portland’s hip-hop OG’s are on board then maybe you should check it out for yourself.
