His Twitter says “Atlanta” but last I knew, J Hyfe was a Portland product. His latest project – a 12 track EP – shows promise and creativity while incorporating a heavy southern-trap influence.
Hosted by DJ Fatboy, the project boasts rap features from HANiF, Dubz, Rapper E, San Quinn and Captain. Largely self-produced, the In Da P.O.M.Es (Presence Of My Enemies) also features production from T-Monster, Louder Sounds, Uncle Jesse and Portland’s own Stewart Villain.
Well constructed with an array of vibes not always found in NW rap, this is an album worth checking out. Might just grow on you.
