Even though Blossom’s sound these days is verging more on neo-soul, it’s nice to see and hear that she’s still very willing to bring us a reggae joint that we can vibe-out and burn to. “Black Magic Woman,” produced by Mikey Fountaine and featuring vocals by Mai Mae, arrived 9 days ago — just in time for my ‘Sunny Days at Sauvies Island’ playlist. And I see you Blossom–lacing black feminism all up in your lyrics. Aye!

“Won’t see it coming but just know the time is near. Black magic woman will come back to take back our rights to remain black. Our magic can take that.”

My only critique is that this song is too short, clocking in at just 2:35. I could go for another 90 seconds of the band jamming and Blossom ad-libbing/repeating the chorus. For the next live version of this song, I hope the EYRST-signed artist will drag it out a bit. Let it marinate.
