by Morgan and Alli

A few months ago we got the chance to watch the set of an amazing group of guys from Florida. Their stage presence caught our attention so when we heard that they were on the Vans Warped Tour we knew that we wanted to interview these talented fellas. GoRadio could be described as The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus meets A Day to Remember. Alex, the lead guitarist took a break from his squirt gun fight to chat with us by the tour buses about GoRadio and his Warped Tour experience.

How long have you guys been a band?

We have been a band for about four years

Is this your first time out on Warped Tour?

It is our first time.

Has it been a good experience?

It has been awesome, It’s funny you get through the whole thing and today being the last day everyone is just like I cant wait for it to be done. Last night was the big end of tour party and then you realize it’s over. Then you realize I am going to miss this and the comradery.

Who do you think your band has bonded the most with?

We have known a bunch of the bands for a while. Enter Shikari- we have toured with those guys before. As far as getting along with a new band, we have really buddied down with Relient K and Against Me a lot.

After you pack up tonight, what are your guys’ plans?

We have a nice four-day trek on the bus back to Tallahassee Florida. It’s going to take like three to four days because we have to sleep. Then we are back on the road and touring.

Who are you guys touring with?

Well I can’t really tell you… but… Every Avenue and Yellowcard!

Any piece of advice you would give you past self?

It’s harder to make money in the music industry then you think it is, that’s what I would tell the old Alex. It’s not just a record deal and you make it, it’s a lot more work then you expect.

What is one trend you’ve seen at Warped Tour that you wish you hadn’t?

Freaking shirts with profanity on them. They are everywhere. Shirts with the “F” word. Shirts that say “F me I’m fat”. Just tasteless merchandise. There are bands out here that have a cause; they are being cannibalized by these terrible companies. It’s like if I went home and my parents saw me with that shirt… they would never let me in.

What do you hate leaving behind when you go out on tour?

Friends and loved ones. You sacrifice the entire idea of normalcy. You are living in a small space with fifteen other people. The other day we where in a mall and because Warped Tour is like a totally different breed of tour. On other tours you stop at Wal-mart and you see glimpses of reality. With this you are in this fenced off area for seven weeks. The other day we were in a mall on our day off which we have very few of on this tour. I was looking at the movies and I was like what are these movies?! I have never heard of any of this stuff. What are these different smells? I am use to only smelling dirt and sweat.

Would you say that it’s hard to transition back into normal life after tour?

We are constantly on tour so we don’t have too much time to settle down. It’s harder to go from normal life to back on tour.

What’s the best way for people to stay in contact with Go Radio?

It’s cliché but twitter. We all have personal twitter’s and our band twitter is @GoRadio. It has all the information you need.

Oregon pop quiz! Do you know what the capitol of Oregon is?

Portland.

Can you name three movies filmed here?

I can’t even name one.

Goonies!

I didn’t know Goonies was filmed here, we just watched that the other day.

Twilight!

I could give this much about twilight. Our drummer is really into twilight…

If you had to give Oregon a superlative, what would it be?

Everything looks the same!
