“One more ‘fore I go;  One time for GREEN TEAM.”  Epp, Green Team Official

Just in time for the opening of the Northwest’s first recreational marijuana shops this week, Green Team is back with their new release, “Boat Life”.  While Washington is reporting a “weed shortage”, there seems to be no lack of marijuana on the Mary Jane, a fictional ship two weed farmers, (Lawz Spoken and Calvin Valentine), sail on the high seas in this new release.

When I received an email describing this album as “an audio book of sorts”, I was skeptical.  But the story is entertaining, and the concept is well executed.   The Green Team two are infamous for their use of dialogue clips in their music, often incorporating lines from movies into their songs.  Classic clips from Cheech and Chong films made appropriately timed appearances in Green Team’s previous release, “Green Team Official”.  On this album, the characters themselves tell most of the story, narrating a thrilling adventure of boats and bad guys and a whole lot of bud.

“Boat Life” is a great follow up to the first Green Team album.  The beats are sweet and groovy, and the raps are solid.  Head to BandCamp, buy the album for $4.20, press play and follow Lawz and G down to the sunny Caribbean.
