Earlier this week, my wife swooped me from work and had the new Rihanna on. The slowed-down island-centric vibe sounds good on her, but I couldn’t help but think, “Why is she trying to sound like Blossom?” While I doubt Ri was actually biting our local celeb’s style, Blossom answered my silent question this week with yet another new 2-track EP.

Wavves didn’t trigger beef with Wiz Khalifa, but it did pick up some solid press with a flattering debut on Willamette Weekly, in which Matt Singer so eloquently called it a “Netflix-and-Chill anthem.” I’m gonna go ahead and completely agree with Matt on this and urge you to press play sooner than later. Blossom brings a really fresh flavor to the NW rap scene and it’s great seeing her get the recognition she’s earned. Why are you still reading? Hit the button!
