The blacker the berry, the sweeter the juice / Misfortune in Portland but I got hope for the youth…”

Bocha of Gutter Family Entertainment might make a name for himself with this new visual from burgeoning videographer Puurple. The title track from his December album Misfortunes In Portland really got new life from the beautifully executed new video which errs on the side of emo, while showcasing the East Portland rapper’s youthful swag.

I know it’s only first quarter, but trippy imagery and poetically dense lyrics make this one of my favorite videos of 2016. Repping his town, his generation and his love for cannabis, Bocha has a lifestyle anthem on is hands here and I’m anxious to see what he comes up with next.
