It’s the first week of the month and TheTHESIS is back! Nobody does a rap party like we do, and you don’t have to take my word for it. Just check the record.
Word to Stevo the Weirdo…
This month is a different animal. For the first time in TheTHESIS history, we’re bringing in a headliner who doesn’t hail from the Pacific Northwest…
Rapper/activist Marco Pave has been making moves out of Memphis, Tennessee, garnering headlines on outlets from StereoGum and Mass Appeal to NPR and MTV for pushing the less told stories of his city with passion and skillful wordplay. Whether receiving letters from senators for his work on cannabis reform or performing with the Memphis Sympony, Marco is a master of getting his message across. On tour with his latest project, Welcome To Grc Lnd, Marco will bring his energetic and honest brand of rap to Kelly’s Olympian for a one-time performance you won’t want to miss.
Jon Belz is kinda like a big deal around these parts. A studio legend with an extensive catalog, few can seriously claim to possess his level lyrical dexterity, and his ability to endlessly produce rhymes at any time is something you have to see in person. Whether rocking solo, working with Team Backpack or squadding up with DaiN or his NBG brethren, Jon always stands out.
The PDX native recently relocated to Seattle, but he’ll be holding down PORTLAND when he rocks this special edition of TheTHESIS on Thursday.

Kung Foo Grip is a classic NW duo consisting of emcees Eff Is H (pronounced “fish”) and and Greg Cypher. Originally from Portland, the boom-bap duo made a major splash out of Seattle around 2011, catching the attention of KEXP as they impacted the scene with their energetic and funky styles, and continue to evolve and put out highly enjoyable music.
The new school vets were regulars at WOHM events back in the Woo-hah days (remember those?), but will be rocking TheTHESIS for the first time and we couldn’t be more excited!
As always, TheTHESIS is brought to you by We Out Here Magazine, XRAY and Vortex Magazine with support from Crate Diggers, Good Cheer Records, Portland Mercury, and our liquor sponsor, Bacardi. 21 and up to get in and only $5 at the door to come party.
We’re pumped to be producing our 35th consecutive event, and as always we’ve got some stunts in store but we’re not trying to say too much. Come see what we’re all about this Thursday at Kelly’s. Doors at 9, show starts at 8.
Hope to see you there!
